SERELIS — Ingredient Standards

At SERELIS, choosing an ingredient is a discipline — not a trend, not a marketing claim, and never a shortcut.

Before any botanical enters our formulas, it must pass through one of the most rigorous natural screening processes in our industry. This is our commitment:

If an ingredient will touch someone’s skin, breath, or daily ritual, it must be chosen with absolute clarity and respect.

Below are the standards that guide every decision we make.

A — Agricultural Standards

(Alphabetical Category: A)

We begin by understanding the land itself — because purity starts long before extraction.

We examine:

  • Origin — country, region, climate, and growing traditions

  • Soil quality — mineral richness, farming history, residue testing

  • Cultivation method — organic, wild-harvested, biodynamic

  • Sustainability — whether harvesting respects local ecosystems

  • Seasonality — how climate affects natural aromatic composition

We do not accept ingredients grown with heavy pesticide use or unclear sourcing.

B — Botanical Purity & Extraction

(Alphabetical Category: B)

The extraction method determines the integrity of a plant’s natural character.
We assess:

  • Extraction method — steam-distilled, cold-pressed, CO₂ extracted

  • Temperature control — protecting delicate compounds

  • Solvent transparency — ensuring clean, residue-free processing

  • Batch consistency — aroma, colour, and composition must remain stable

We accept only clean extractions that preserve the plant’s authentic profile.

C — Research & Evidence Review

(Alphabetical Category: C — legally safe rewrite)

Before selecting an ingredient, we conduct a deep evidence review.
This includes:

  • Multiple independent scientific reports

  • Peer-reviewed safety data

  • Traditional knowledge and historical use

  • Stability and quality testing

  • Long-term safety and handling guidelines

While this level of research is not required in beauty,
it is required for SERELIS.

D — Skin Compatibility & Sensitivity Considerations

(Alphabetical Category: D — fully legal)

We evaluate how each ingredient behaves on the skin and in daily use.
We consider:

  • General sensitivity profiles

  • Potential for irritation

  • Phototoxicity considerations

  • Usage concentration standards

  • Allergen information

We do not work with ingredients known to be harsh, overly sensitizing, or disruptive to the skin’s natural balance.

E — Ethical & Environmental Responsibility

(Alphabetical Category: E)

We believe natural beauty should never come at the expense of people or the planet.

We review:

  • Fair-trade and ethical sourcing practices

  • Support for small growers and cooperatives

  • Environmental impact of harvesting

  • Sustainability of wild-harvested botanicals

  • Carbon footprint and transportation routes

Our ingredients must uplift both communities and ecosystems.
